Heavy snows overnight left the steep roads in and out of the village virtually impassable for most of the morning forcing drivers who'd attempted to cut through to the M66 to leave their cars on the roadside. The snowfall did have a bright side though as local schools closed and the children had a day off to make the most of the seasonal weather.

Hi Dianne,
Many thanks for the kind comments. I'm pleased the photos are bringing back happy memories and I'll put Wood Road Lane on the list for a future post.

Hi Andrew
Just discovered your excellent blog. Love the photos, especially the ones of Robin Road, where my wife and I live. As you can imagine we have taken lots of the lane but none of the professional quality of yours. I have looked at some of the other months' photos and they are all very good - congratulations on doing an excellent selling job on the village! Keep up the good work...I will be returning.
By the way, any chance of updating me whenever you hear anything about the Waterside or Liberal Club? Would really appreciate it.
Cheers
Phil

Hi Phil,
Many thanks for visiting! I'm not sure how professional it actually is but hopefully it's a good document of the wonderful place we live and I do promise any news I pick up on either of our lapsed establishments will be on here straight away.
In their absence I'd highly recommend The Hamers and the good news is it's all downhill on the way back.
Merry Xmas to you and everyone else who has been checking out the blog. I've been amazed at how many people have taken a look and particularly all the good memories the photos seem to bring back.
There'll be more in the new year,
Andrew

Hi. Really enjoyed viewing your pics of Summerseat. I now live in Nottingham and looking at these brings back lots of brilliant memories.I spent my time as a child, playing with friends who lived in the brick houses, where my dad grew up and worked at the local mill. Would love to see pics of Wood Road Lane if poss. The ones you took along the shore were of great interest. Thankyou and look forward to seeing more in the future.
