Summerseat Methodist Primary School, February 2009

This morning I was very privileged to be invited to visit Summerseat Methodist Primary School to talk to the children of Class 4 about Summerseat Views and offer some humble tips on photography. They're doing a great project on 'Ourselves and Our Environment' including some fantastic paintings of the village and surrounding areas which took their inspiration from the pictures on this blog.

We also had the opportunity to go around the school grounds in small groups and take some photos. The children had certainly taken a lot on board and many of the following images were suggested by them. I'd just like to send a big thank you to Mrs Cooley and all the children for making me feel so welcome.

Andy, thank you for coming in to school today. The children really enjoyed the morning and I am sure you have inspired more than a few of them to want to take photographs as opposed to 'snaps'.

The pictures you have posted are super. I particularly like the ones that contrast the different textures of the school building, or the fabric of the school building with the surrounding trees.

Andy,

Thank you so much for coming and working with the children in school. I know that your work has really inspired them and sparked their creativity.

Children, I think the pictures you took with Andy are superb - especially those which are taken at unusual angles or those which just feature a small part of our school. I particularly like the one taken through the railings.

Hello everyone. It was lovely to see you all yesterday and thanks for helping me take such good photos of your school. We took so many that I couldn't put all of them on the blog but I will send you a disc with the best of what we did.

Hi Andy,

My boyfriend and I are planning to move to Summerseat- hopefully this summer- we are just having some renovations done on our house to get it ready for sale.

Your photos are really inspiring, the only trouble is that they are making me really impatient and I want to move now!

Have you lived there for very long? We are looking at Holly Street or one of the other terraces adjacent to it.

  Many thanks for your comments and I'd definitely say our move to Summerseat six years ago was the best we've ever made.
  
  We actually live on one of the red brick terraces so I can highly recommend the houses and also vouch for how friendly and neighbourly it is.

Hi Andy,

Well thanks for the info, good to hear. We live in a 3 storey terrace at the moment with a similar value to those for sale on Holly Street, but in Whitefield. Ours is also 4 beds and has a kitchen extension and large brick garage. I think ours is also quite a bit bigger in terms of space, but there are only the 2 of us and no kids planned. If you know anyone who would do a swap let me know!
